She earned her doctorate in Educational Psychology from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Education from University of Minnesota. She taught first grade for six years in St. Paul, Minnesota and developed programs for children, teens and parents at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She was a professor of Early Childhood Education at National-Louis University for 13 years, until deciding to devote her energies exclusively to the development of parents and families.
